Scouts Update Summer 2019

Numbers

We currently have 30 Scouts and are looking to offer places to 6 more on the waiting list.  In September we lost 3 Scouts and gained 1 from cubs and 1 new Scout who has a parent who is a leader. We have gained 2 new leaders with the potential of 1 more.

Chief Scout’s Gold

We have a number of scouts close to obtaining their Chief Scout’s Gold which will be our first awards.

June and July

We finished the summer outside, den building, cycling and canoeing. We completed a 4-hour hike from St Ives to Papworth then had our end of term party at the waterpark which included an investiture.

We spent a glorious week-long camp in Wales this summer where we took part in walking, exploring, kayaking and coasteering.

Looking forward

The new term is underway and we have already spent time geocaching around the village and exploring Cambridge completing a treasure hunt. We have a trip to the Open University in Milton Keynes planned to learn about astronomy, along with masterclasses, hovercraft racing and a possible trip to Amazon.

Camps

We have plans for 3 camps so far next year. A return to Fire & Ice in January, the District Camp and then a week-long camp at the beginning of summer.

Badges

We  have 120 badges due.
